Our History

100+ years of innovation

Our story begins in 1873, when Rokusaburo Sugiura began selling photographic materials in Tokyo. Within 7 years the company developed its first camera, and a pattern of ongoing progress and innovation was solidly in place. Fast forward to 1971, and we proudly introduced Japan’s first plain paper copier.

From humble beginnings to global industry leaders in optics and electronics, the merger of Konica and Minolta in 2003, ushered in a new era of innovation in the next frontier – digital information management. As in the past, we recognize the critical importance of serving the needs of our customers, and we’re committed to honoring the tradition of excellence that our founder practiced.

The office of the future is here!

Today Konica Minolta is forging exciting new partnerships, and our employees are a worldwide network of exceptional professionals. We’re investing in our people, Business Innovation Centers and amazing new technologies with one clear purpose – to create new value in our swiftly-evolving, modern world.
